Nature: a sacrament

In the book prophet Is 6:3 we read that the whole earth is filled with God’s glory. God’s presence is found everywhere. It shows that we are always in the presence of God and we cannot go away from his presence. If God is present, then all things of the eco system acquire divinity, sacredness, sanctity and Go is adored in them. St. Basil says “I want creation to penetrate you with so much admiration that everywhere, wherever you may be, the least plant may bring to you the clear remembrance of the creator”.

The created world is the symbol of the spirit. Everything in the world is exists in God and God in everything. It is an awareness of he presence of God in the world and the presence of the world in God. In the exodus experience of the OT people, the natural phenomena wee not mere spectators. The sea, the mountains, the hills, the rivers, the springs, the wind, the cloud, the fire and the desert responding to God, participated in the redemptive act for the people of Israel. It shows God’s differentiated presence of God the spirit, in the many.
